The Challenge: Charming Cabins, Painful Economics

The Kellers have run their lakeside resort in Ontario for two generations. The wooden cabins had character — but also leaky roofs, three-month renovation quotes and a nightly rate the market had outgrown. Booking platforms kept nudging them: "guests prefer unique stays."

Renovation meant closing for a full season. A traditional new build meant permits, contractors and 12+ months. They needed revenue units that could arrive fast, wow guests and survive Canadian winters — without pouring a single foundation.

The Solution: Six A70 Ultra Double-Deck Capsules

After a factory video tour and a reference call with a Vermont glamping operator, the resort ordered six A70 Ultra units — the 5-meter double-deck flagship with two bedrooms, panoramic glazing and a 50-year structural warranty.

  • Phased delivery: units arrived in two batches of three, keeping lakeside works minimal
  • Steel leg foundations: no concrete, no permits for permanent structures in their jurisdiction
  • Winter-ready envelope: triple-layer insulation and Low-E glazing rated for −30 °C
  • Landed, leveled, lit: each pod installed in about three days with a four-person crew

Week-by-Week Timeline

  • Week 0: Order confirmed, 30% deposit, production slot booked
  • Weeks 1–5: Factory build with weekly photo updates to the resort team
  • Week 6: Two 40HQ containers shipped to Toronto port
  • Week 7: Site prep — six level pads, utility hookups
  • Week 8: Craned, connected, inspected — first guests booked the same weekend

The Results

The capsules listed at CA$429 per night — nearly double the old cabin rate — and still hit 88% occupancy in the first summer. Guests book the pods months ahead, and the panoramic lake views now anchor the resort's entire brand.

The math got simple: at current rates, the fleet pays itself back in roughly 14 months, and the resort has already reserved six more units for next season's expansion to the far side of the lake.

★★★★★
"We ordered six capsules for our lake resort. Guests now book them out months ahead — the panoramic windows sell themselves. Haishu's team handled shipping and install flawlessly. The pods landed on a Tuesday and hosted paying guests by the weekend."
